日本・大阪の2バンド、Stubborn FatherとSeeKと、アメリカ・テネシー州ナッシュビルの2バンド、Altar of ComplaintsとThetanによる4wayスプリットがMeatcube Label(USA), Kakusan Records(Norway),LongLegsLongsArms Records(Japan)の3レーベルにより9月29日同時共同リリース。

Altar of Complaintsは同じくナッシュビルで2000年代前半より活動していたCease Upon The Capitol, Dolcim, Dawn, Karoshiといった同地域を代表するバンドのメンバーによって結成されたスーパーグループで、「激情ハードコア＋シューゲイズ」と形容されたCease Upon The CapitolやDolcimのスタイルを引き継ぎつつ、更に新しい領域へと自らを押し進めたサウンドが特徴的。彼らが未だ“ポストハードコア”のその先を開拓しようとする意欲は失われていないことを確認できる。
大阪で活動を続けるSeeKにとっては、2枚のEPをリリース後、初のアナログ音源であり、同時に初の海外向け音源となる。メンバーチェンジやいくつかのツアーを経てそのサウンドは強烈に進化した。以前の音源にはNeurosisやISIS,Light Bearerに通じる叙情性やポストメタル感があったが、前作EP「崇高な手」や本作に収録されている『革命と緩和』を聴けばわかる通り、ドラム＋ツインベースで表現される凶悪な重低音、獣の如く咆哮するボーカルはその破壊性を増し、その先の孤高の領域に足を踏み入れようとしている。
SeeKと共に大阪で活動を続けるStubborn Fatherはジャパニーズ・エモバイオレンスの開拓者とも言うべき重鎮、そのサウンドはまさに唯一無二という言葉が相応しい。活動は既に15年を超えるも、彼らの表現力は衰えるどころか更に磨きがかかる。2014年にリリースされたTrikoronaとのスプリットではその存在感を知らしめたのも記憶に新しい。今も世界的なアンダーグラウンドシーンの流行とは切り離され、Best Kept Secretの立ち位置を保ち続ける日本の激情シーン、その説明不能な「ドス黒い部分」が海外マーケットへ流通されるという意味でも本作のリリースは非常に意義深い。
Thetanもまた、Altar of Complaintsと同じくナッシュビル・シーンの文脈と深く関わっている。メロディッククラストSanctionsのメンバーが中心になって結成されただけあって、そのサウンドは非常に汚く仕上げられており、もはやエモというよりはグラインドコアやパワーバイオレンスに近い。次々とショートチューンを畳み掛けるスタイルは、このスプリットの中では上記3バンドとは異質の存在と言えるだろう。但し、彼らもまたナッシュビルのポストハードコア／スクリーモ文脈から生まれたバンドであり、根底にある精神性は共鳴しているのだ。
4wayスプリットとなった本作は言わば日本、アメリカのローカル・アンダーグラウンド・シーンの音楽を世に提示するものである。流行の中でスタイリッシュに洗練されることとは無縁に、それぞれの表現を追求し続ける４バンドがここに集っている。国内販売価格は2,160円(税込)、Vinyl Color全4種。
