Annakarina, based in Pittsburgh, PA, is a Screamo band that was active from 2010 to 2015, and will return in 2020 with members of Short Fictions, Shin Guard, Scratchy Blanket, and Coma Regalia. In 2020, the band will return with members of Short Fictions, Shin Guard, Scratchy Blanket, and Coma Regalia. The EP is a limited edition release, co-released on nine Screamo-addicted labels (including 3LA) such as Zegema Beach and Larry Records.
"Annakarina is apparently a famous French actress, and it's a common practice in Screamo to use actors as band names. However, the Screamo expressed by this band is not a promise. The new song "We Are Passing" was born from Chloe June's experience of coming out as a transgender woman... I even think the band may have been set in motion by the birth of this song. The powerful and beautiful Screamo song is connected to Phoebe Bridgers, who she professes as an influence. It's an expression of Personal Feeling (oh, here comes Loss Leader), and I think that's why it sticks with you.
There are only two songs on this album. However, it is a supreme Screamo suite with short-lived and beautiful drama.

USペンシルベニア州ピッツバーグを拠点に活動するAnnakarinaは、2010年〜2015年に活動していたScreamoバンドで2020年にShort Fictions、Shin Guard、Scratchy Blanket、Coma Regaliaのメンバーも参加する形で復活。このEPはZegema BeachやLarry RecordsといったScreamo中毒な9レーベル(3LAを含む)での共同でリリースされた限定仕様になっています。
"Annakarina"とはフランスの有名な女優らしいのだが、もはやScreamoにおいて俳優がバンド名になっているのは一種のお約束とも言えるかもしれない。でもこのバンドで表現されているScreamoはお約束のものではない。トランスジェンダーであることをカミングアウトしたChloe Juneの経験から生まれた新曲「We Are Passing」...もはやこの曲が生まれたことによってバンドが動き出したのかもしれないとさえ思う。力強く美しいScreamo楽曲は、彼女が影響を公言しているPhoebe Bridgersから繋がっている。まさにPersonal Feeling(ああ、ここでLoss Leaderが繋がった)の表現なんだけど、だからこそ刺さるものっていうのがあるのだと思います。
収録されているのは2曲のみ。しかしそこに短命な、美しいドラマ性が宿った至高のScreamo組曲になっています。
