The 2021 album by Spanish Neo-Crust SVDESTADA is finally complete.
The album was produced at Kollapse Studio by Ivan of ex.Ictus and continues to build on the sound of their first album in 2018. This time, the lyrics are more poetic. The melancholy melody that develops in the minor scale, which can be said to be a tradition of Spanish Neo-Crust, is placed on a beat with a sense of speed, and the music also evolves to run parallel to the lyrics. At first glance, the lyrics may seem more esoteric or abstract than straightforward, but as you listen to the album, the direction of expression is consistent with the more progressive structure of the album as a whole. He always sings about the pain of loss, doesn't he? I wonder what kind of karma he had to bear in his previous life, but that's what Spanish Neo-Crust is all about. even Ictus had the soul of a looser.
And in the middle of the song, there was a bandoneon sound that almost made my tear glands collapse... This is... Isn't this just like Piazzolla? Has the evolving SVDESTADA album finally taken on the elements of Piazzolla? In the past, there were a few Neo-Crust bands that added strings to their composition. But in Spain, it was not strings, but bandoneon and tango. Well, if this sound is the answer they came up with after confronting their own identities again, then the hypothesis that the traditional Spanish minstrelsy existed there might be valid. When you think about it, lyrics that have become more poetic, scales that have reverted to traditional melodies, and their own Neo-Crust that presents them to the modern world... Well, here we are, still in the 2020s, and they're still going "Neo-Crust".

スペインのネオクラスト、SVDESTADAの2021年アルバムが遂に完成。
今回もex.IctusのIvanがエンジニアを務めるKollapse Studioにて制作された本作は、2018年の1stアルバムのサウンドを更に追求していく。El Ego〜Khmerを渡り歩いてきたボーカリストMarioのエモーショナルな情熱の迸る表現は相変わらずだが今回は更に歌詞もより詩的になっている。またスパニッシュネオクラストの伝統的とも言えるマイナースケールで展開していく哀愁メロディを疾走感のあるビートに乗せ、楽曲もまた歌詞と並走するように進化していく。一見歌詞はストレートな表現よりも難解であったり抽象的であったりもするのだが、本作を聴き進めていくとアルバム全体がよりプログレッシブな構造となっていることと表現の方向性は一致している。それにしても彼は常に喪失の痛みを歌っているではないか。前世でどんな業を背負わされていたのか心配になってしまうのだが、それでこそスパニッシュネオクラスト。Ictusだってそこにあったのはルーザーの魂。
そして途中の楽曲では、もう涙腺が崩壊しそうなバンドネオンの音色が...これは...まるでピアソラではないか!進化したSVDESTADAのアルバムは、遂にピアソラ要素をも取り込んでしまったのか。かつてネオクラストの中にはストリングスを編成に加えたバンドがいくつか存在していた。しかし、スペインではそれはストリングスではなくバンドネオンでありタンゴだったということなのか。そうか、彼らが再び自身のアイデンティティと向き合った上で出した答えがこのサウンドなのだとしたら、そこにスペイン伝統のミンストレルは存在していたという仮説は成り立つのかもしれない。そう考えると、より詩的になっていた歌詞、伝統的メロディに回帰した音階、それらを現代に提示する彼ら自身のネオクラストサウンド...う〜〜ん、参りました。2020年代で未だ"ネオクラスト"を続ける奴らの本気です。
